this (past) weeks purchases

I bought a few things last week and found a few minutes to take some pics. I am in love with every one of these items and I'm sure they will be making many appearances around here. And with these latest purchases, comes the start of another spending freeze. Until my next trip to MTL, I will not be spending any money on clothes or shoes. Sigh.

First up, Aldo had a further reduction on sale sandals so I ordered these from the store (they didn't have my size in stock) and they were delivered to my door, free of charge, the very next morning. And this is why most of my footwear and bags are from that store...their customer service is incredible.

I got an email from Little Burgundy that they were doing 50% off all sale merchandise so I ordered a few things. But first I must vent at how shitty this store is. After a bad experience I had, I knew I should've stayed away but I looked and found these shoes and this purse that I liked. Kim added a pair of sandals to my order too. A few of my items arrived withing a couple of days, but Kim's never did. Finally I got an email saying the item is out of stock and they would refund me. A week later i'm still waiting for said refund. Also, I was charged for a scarf that I have yet to receive. It's a shame they have such nice shoes because it's time I say "screw you Little Burgundy".

While downtown last week, I slipped into Aritzia to grab a pair of leggings since I ripped mine. There sales were awesome so I had a peek around and also came home with a Community sweater ($60) and TNA shorts ($30).

sunday bday din

Sunday family dinner marked the last of the birthday celebrations. The weather was crap so we couldn't enjoy the pool, but at least we got to eat my mom's lasagna, which just so happens to be the best lasagna ever. And of course there was cake. So those two combined meant that the waist band of these shorts was practically cutting off my circulation by the end of the night. Regardless, it was so worth it!

purchases, and another outfit

As I mentioned earlier, here are the  bits and bobs I bought yesterday (post-sofa purchase) and my outfit I threw on for breakie at the pub this morning.

All purchases above are from Wunderkammer (on Dalhousie St). I think the most expensive thing I bought was the 5 ring set for $24. They have a bit of home decor at the back of the store, so I grabbed the beaker (for $5).

These flip flops were half price at one of my favourite shoe stores, Wolf & Zed. They are by Yosi Samra and are padded so SUPER comfy.

saturday night's alright

It's a rare weekend spent in town so we made the most of it by going over to friends' house for dinner. They also have kids, so it's a welcome change to have people on our schedule (dinner at 5ish, goodbyes around 7). The kids had a great time playing, and the adults enjoyed some good wine, a delicious meal, and they even had a birthday cake for me. So sweet.

G and her various body parts are all over these pictures...she was in the mood to pose and was particularly interested in "mama's rips".  As we were taking pics she dropped her snack on the floor and I stopped to clean it up. I did not notice until uploading these pics that some of it got on me, so yes, that is remnants of a fruit bag on my foot. And it was still there this morning. Being a mom is glamorous, ain't it?

(sorry for the pic overload, but the kid is cute, and her weird eyes are funny).

jeans: Zara
shoes: Aldo...they are now on sale for $8!

a day in the market

I have been itching to walk around in the Byward Market (we rarely go downtown - parking is a pain, lots of people), and yesterday I finally did with my husband in tow. There are lots of cool little shops, fashion and home decor, and of course I'll blog the decor stuff on DTI, but here are some photos of what I wore and some of the shops we checked out. Stay tuned later for another post of what I purchased, and what I threw on to go to breakie this morning. I must point out that I avoided some of my favourite shops because our first stop ended up including a random purchase of a new sofa which left me feeling guilty to purchase anything else.

My husband bought some Frye sneakers. I had no clue Frye made sneakers. They're awesome - very vintage looking.

This shop, Wunderkammer, is new to me and carries incredible jewelry at very affordable prices. I bought several things....

sleeveless blouse ~ H&M
black shorts ~ H&M
flip flops ~ Marshalls
bag ~ Alexander Wang
bracelets ~ Aldo, H&M
necklace ~ F21
