As I mentioned in my last post, I got a tattoo Friday after work. Graphic and simple was what I wanted, and that's exactly what I got. :-)

off to the races!

We're heading out to celebrate one of our bestest friends birthday at the local racetrack. He's chartered a big yellow school bus to take us all there. His girlfriend prepped some jello shots and I can sense the debauchery that will ensue! This night is gonna be awesome! I've never been to see the races before, but am more excited for the buffet and conversation.
Getting dressed was a challenge. I really do not own anything dressy, and what few dresses I did try on did not seem right for tonight. I keep thinking "polo match" (floppy hats!) instead of "casino with a friggin buffet and penny slots"! So I gave up trying, threw on jeans pants (since they're mint we're calling em pants tonight!).
We're picking up Gia from her sleepover bright and early tomorrow then heading on up to the cottage for Canada Day! We're have a few parties planned and I'm sure it's going to be a perfect weekend. I hope yours is too!

new shoes

I took advantage of online sales and picked up a couple pairs of shoes recently. But before I tell you about them, there are supposed to be 2 other pairs here but I had to ask for a refund. Let me explain.
I have browsed the online shop Gravity Pope for at least a year now, mostly because they're Canadian, but have never ordered anything. They have some sale shoes right now that are SUPER cheap so I picked out a cute pair of converse flats (HERE) for $10 and some Ash sandals marked down to $20 from $180 (HERE). Great prices right? Then I find out their shipping is $15 for the first pair and $5 more for the second. These days most sites offer free shipping so I was already kind of irritated by paying $20 shipping but since they were so cheap I bit the bullet and ordered them. 3 days later I get an email saying the converse "weren't available" and if I wanted to find something else or continue with the order and accept a refund for those. So I would be paying $20 for the sandals and paying $15 shipping. I told them I wanted a full refund and to keep their damn shoes. I just checked the website now and they STILL show that they have a 8.5 which is what I ordered. AND never once did they apologize. I won't be ordering from Gravity Pope anytime soon.
The same day, the 18th, I found a pair of flats on Little Burgundy Shoes that I had my eye on for months at about 65% off (HERE). I decided to get those too. 4 days later I received an email stating "We are still in the process of locating the item(s) below and the merchandise will be shipped to you as soon as possible." WTF???? 6 days later I finally get an email saying they've been shipped. UNREAL. They arrived today - 10 days later.
Last night I was thinking about how Shopbop was offering an extra 15% off their sale stuff, and that I had spotted some VERY cool Jeffrey Campbell Arizona Python booties on for 70% off recently. I bit the bullet thanks to the Gravity Pope fiasco and decided to get them (at 5:26 pm). This was the first time I chose the "pay import and duty fees up front" option which is great cause then UPS will just drop your parcel at your door. And they're FREE shipping. And OMG when I got home today at 5pm they has just been delivered! That's a bit less than 24 hours and they came from Wisconsin. I LOVE YOU SHOPBOP!! (even if I have to pay import/duty fees) And I LOVE MY NEW BOOTIES!!!

red pants

Apparently we dressed for Canada Day a few days early!
Gia sported this outfit for all of ten minutes before we headed outside and she soaked herself playing with her water table. I wore this out last night for a friends birthday dinner in the Market. We scored a sweet spot on the patio of a Brazilian restaurant, Mambo, and enjoyed the most amazing cocktails and tapas. My favorite drink of the night was a "Rico Suave", with Cacacha, crusched grapes, basil, something pink, and lime juice. Delicious.
On me:
tank from Winners, Gap jeans (worn again here), Ardene shoes, Aldo bag and sunglasses, H&M bracelets, Fossil watch
On Gia:
Gap shirt, Zara jeans, Tiny TOMS

latest from the grocery store

I had a doctor's appointment this afternoon and did some grocery shopping afterwards. Of course, I had to check out the Joe Fresh clothing after filling the cart with only healthy food because my gut has just GOT TO FREAKING GO ALREADY. I'm trying to eat no-carb but it's tough when the fridge is empty. Anyhoo, I picked up a couple pairs of pants. The first was TEN DOLLARS. Found them in the sleepwear section but I'm wondering if I can get away with wearing them out. Love the ikat print and especially the price - which was so good I had to make sure y'all saw the tag.
I thought these pants were cool and since I'm desperate for pants to wear to work I figured they'd go with alot of stuff and while looking a bit pyjama-esque, I think I can dress them up a bit and make them work at the office. They were $29. SO comfy, and cool fabric. I think the rack of them had the legs rolled up on each pair, and I'll likely wear them rolled.

I got an email from Aldo yesterday about a sale on sandals. Why I opened it and why I clicked through to their site, selected my size, and browsed page after page of lovely, cheap sandals is beyond me. I told myself no more new stuff until everything I've purchased recently is worn multiple times. I may have even put a pair or two in my shopping cart. But I closed my browser before I committed to buying as I'm in no mood to feel buyers remorse today.

ball pits & karma

Gia and I headed out to Cosmic today for an afternoon of fun in the ball pits. I have so much fun playing with this kid of mine. Today was filled with super mega belly laughs as she discovered the fun of being swung around and dragged through the pit by her arms and legs. Lemme tell ya, you don't need the gym when a day can be spent chasing and playing with an energetic toddler. And it's much more rewarding. Also rewarding, is the feeling of good karma for turning in to the front desk a $20 bill I found on the floor. They looked at me like I was crazy when I said " in case someone comes looking for it" but I know the good will come back to me.
(the iPhone case giveaway from Exotic Grain closes tonight at midnight so make sure to get your entry in!)
