Pardon the eyes, it was really bright out and I can't find my sunglasses.
It's the weekend and not much is going on around here but family time. We brought my daughter to Kim's house to visit with all the cats (her latest obsession is chasing felines around while yelling "cat"). Then we made a trip to Lowe's and I bought some pegboard and hooks to attempt to make a DIY jewelry rack (I may or may not have saw one in Kim's dressing room!).
I think tonight Chinese takeout is in order. I'm in a comfort food kind of mood. Chopsticks always do the trick.

le chateau - who knew?

FYI: Given the nature of this post you'd think it was written by Jen, ye who shops frugally. Yes, I'd rather be talking about Balenciaga bags...

Several weeks ago I was at Carlingwood Mall - for those of you not familiar with this mall, it is where old people hang out and shop. Old as in walkers/canes etc. Real old. And the mall generally sucks. For some reason, there is a Le Chateau store in this mall. And go figure, when I walked in the store, I was the only customer. I was looking for a black sweater, and didn't find the style I was looking for, but I did come to the conclusion that they do some pretty decent clutches! The first one below was one I spotted, and for some reason did not buy. Perhaps because while clutches are generally a pretty cute style of bag, they are also pretty useless. You have to hold on to it at all times, you can't hook it over the back of your chair, and they often fit nothing but a tube of lipstick and if you're lucky, your iPhone. But I digress. Here are a bunch of clutches I found on their website - at great prices, and some are on sale!

Python Print Flapover Clutch - $59.95

Leather-like Studded Clutch - $49.95

Liquid Metallic Envelope Clutch - $39.95

Satin Metal Trim Clutch - on sale $39.99

Leather-like Tipped Canvas Clutch - $45

Satin & Lace Minaudi癡re - $49.95

Satin Minaudi癡re - $49.95

Satin and Lace Hard Case - $79.95

This outfit was SO comfy...it felt like I was in pj's all day. I hope Gap's colored legging jeans go on sale again soon 'cause i'll be scooping myself up at least one more pair.

BUT these boots are so incredibly annoying. There is no zipper so you have to do up the laces through the  super tight hook things every time. I don't have that kind of patience so i'll be choosing where I wear them a bit more carefully.

window shopping: jcrew

I'm having a super rough time getting my butt in gear this morning so my chances of making myself presentable are dwindling with each passing moment.

Instead, I'm window shopping over at JCrew. I didn't realize they ship to Canada for a flat fee with nothing payable upon delivery. However, I also didn't realize that the store was on the pricey side. So I've got my eye on the these items for spring, and hopefully they'll end up on sale in the near future cause I'd really like them to be mine!

craving nice weather outfit #2

I bought this dress in Prince Edward Island 2 summers ago during my mini honeymoon. I never wear dresses (I don't really know why - I think it's because they don't look good on me) but when I saw this one I caved. It's the cutest little black dress I've ever seen. Of course, I have yet to wear it anywhere but I was thinking about it the other day for some reason. It hit me that pairing it with super tight skinny jeans and cool boots could make this wearable even in the middle of the goddamn winter.

wednesday at the office

I had a bitch of a time getting reasonably decent photos with my stupid phone today. I'm thinking I should invest in a small camera to leave at work for this.

Meet Pugley, he is the best cat around. He's got the biggest attitude, but his squishy face means I can never stay mad at him for long. He's just the cutest! Except when he swats at my daughters face. In fairness to him, it's usually cause she's been chasing him around for 10 minutes and has finally cornered him.

Back to me, I just tried this hair tutorial. It took about 8 minutes, and I finally have just a hint of wave with minimal frizz. It's bliss. I wonder if the two year olds at playgroup will notice.

craving nice weather outfit #1

Since I never get the opportunity to get some decent outfit shots taken by someone other than myself and in the daylight, Sunday I decided to do try some with the help of my husband. Then I had the brilliant idea to leave him out of it to make things alot easier. Instead I created some outfits, displayed them in my dressing room and took some photos myself. Here is one of them.

Fur jacket: vintage via the now defunct Aunt Olive's
Sequin tank: H&M
Jeans: Lucky Brand boyfriend jeans
Flats: Gap
Clutch: maybe Town Shoes...bought it for Jen's Vegas wedding in Nov '09
Pearl bracelet: no clue. really old. i have a thing with big fake pearls. (there's a short huge-pearl necklace at Holts I've been eye-balling for probably 5 years that's $80...one of these days I'll break down and buy it).

This outfit would be so much fun to wear at the office. Nothing like showing up at the ol' government job with fake fur, sequins and pearls. YEAH BABY!

teen spirit

Apparently 5 hours sleep makes me revert to dressing like I'm 16 again. At least I skipped the thick black eyeliner that made my parents cringe.  If only I had a pair of red doc's like I did way back when...

Jeans: American Eagle
Nirvana Sweatshirt: H&M
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star
