dance party

We started to take some pictures of today's outfit, but a certain someone wanted to dance. So we most definitely took a little dance break. Then husband insisted on using America's Next Top Model vernacular while snapping pics. Hearing "not enough smize" and "how 'bout some booty tooch" just about killed me!

Cardigan: Costa Blanca
Jeans: Tommy Hilfiger
Boots: Rocket Dog
Necklace: Aldo. Broken. Sucks.

my new everyday bag

I have been on the hunt for a new bag to carry around for everyday - grocery shopping, breakie at the pub etc. I discovered Brachfeld Parlaghy bags and fell in love with her edgy vibe. I had my eye on the Philippa shoulder bag from SSENSE. I also found the Josefina style at Shopbop and FINALLY it went down to 50% off so I quickly ordered one before they sold out (and they did). I love me a sale! It's a bit smaller than I had hoped but whatever, I think it's funky and the distressed leather is incredible.

goodies from my favourite online shops - part 1

My parcel hasn't arrived yet probably due to the ridiculous amount of snow we've gotten over the past 30 hours. And today was my compressed day off so I haven't left the house so I don't have an outfit post or a look-what-i-bought post. Instead, I visited some of my favourite online shops and noted some pieces I would not mind scoring.

All Saints jagger cardigan

SGC NYC double leather cuff sweater

TOPSHOP quilted leather bomber jacket

Shopbop - Diane Von Furstenberg hatsu dress

Farfetch - Giusepee Zanotti spike cap toe flat

Acrimony - Marie Turnor picnic clutch

The Outnet - Marni embellished leather tote (65% off!)

SSENSE - Givenchy multigalvanized crucifix bracelet

snow day

It's absolute madness outside. I am about to go shovel, for the fourth time today.
Despite the ridiculous amount of snow, it's really warm and beautiful out, so I took the kid on a 30 minute walk in her sled through 2 feet of snow. I'd say that's plenty of exercise for one day.
Although not even remotely a blog worthy outfit, I love this sweatshirt and these slippers so I thought I'd share anyway.

Sweatshirt: Volcom at PacSun
Leggings: Aritzia (I own 4 pairs...they are awesome)
Slippers: Forever 21

my purchases

Although I encountered every asshole salesperson alive yesterday, I enjoyed some much needed me time by indulging in a retail therapy session. I didn't have much money to spend but I did have a wallet full of gift cards. My grand out-of-pocket total was about $60 for ALL THIS STUFF!

Not quite the combat boots I've been searching for, but for $30 these boots will do just fine.

While at Aldo, I picked up this necklace only to realize at home that the friggin' tip of the leaf is broken off. It was only $10 and I already threw out the receipt so i'll just break more of it off and hope that it looks ok.

I returned 6 empty MAC containers in exchange for the Naked Lunch eye shadow, and used a gift card from my sister-in-law for the Gloss refill.

Thanks to my husband, I picked up these lovely studs from Magpie.

These are Corduroy Cargo Leggings. From Aritzia. With an elastic waist. Marked down to $39 from $80. I couldn't resist. They don't have back pockets so they look a bit weird, but nothing a long sweater can't take care of.

There were no clothes at Forever 21 that I liked, so I used my gift card on a bunch of accessories instead. Nothing here was over $10 and the best score was the rose necklace at $1.50. Those are my kind of prices!

outerwear edition

I don't think I took my coat off until 5pm. It was a long, fun day of shopping and errands and baby free time. More to come on the results of said shopping trip tomorrow. In the meantime, here's my "it's a friggin' blizzard" look.
A word on Hunter Wellies...I learned today, that although fabulous, they are in no way warm, even with their fancy fleece socks. I yearn for the higher boots; the reason I bought the short ones is twofold. First, my shortness meant that the high boots went right up into my knee-pit and I couldn't bend my legs. Second, my legs have always been thick, so I would have never been able to squeeze them on with pants.

Jacket: Old Navy (same style, different color on sale for $32!)
Jeans: Gap
Boots and socks: Hunter
Loop scarf and Hat: American Eagle

i need help

What was going through my mind this morning at 6:30 when I was walking through Chinatown heading into work? THESE BOOTS. I remember thinking to myself that I seriously need to get a life because WTF do I need to be dreaming about more boots for? Perhaps it's because I've had my eye on these for months, or perhaps it's because they were marked down to $399 until a couple days ago when they were marked down even further to $279 (reg price = $545). Perhaps it's because they are just a SWEET pair of boots. Picture them with a starchy button up white shirt, huge faux pearl necklace, black skinny jeans, and my dream Balenciaga bag. *SIGH*

a little delivery

The mail lady delivered this beauty this afternoon.
It came from GRAINCASES and I like it so much more than my old (dirty) plastic cover.

As I do every time I get my hair done, I stop in at Heavens to Betsy and to my delight they were having their first ever jewelry sale - everything 30% off. Of course, I had to take advantage. I picked up 3 pieces for a total of $71.98 (tx incl).
First up, this gorgeous industrial chain bracelet for $45.

I have a thing for skulls. Behold - my first skull ring. Maybe one day I'll break down and get myself a McQueen. This was $8.40.

And this adorable little ring. $10.50. Love that the band is leather.

hump day at the office

Nothing exciting today. Just another day at the office. And it was ungodly cold out today but I decided to wear a blouse anyway, and amazingly I was fairly warm. Guess the building had the heat cranked.

Blouse: Forever 21
Jeans: Citizens of Humanity Ava low rise straight leg
Belt: Gap
Necklace: Aldo
Boots: Jeffrey Campbell Rumble via Little Burgundy Shoes (now on half price!)

A few months ago, when I was FINALLY able to fit into my old clothes and actually feel good in them, I decided that I was done spending my days in jogging pants. My lulu's will always have a place in my closet, but I was sick of living in them. I craved pants with a zipper, and tops that were fitted. I wanted to spend 5 minutes on my hair, and wear makeup. So that's what I do. Although I'm wearing leggings today, and a boy shirt, but whatever...you get the point.
I might be taking that a little too far by wearing these boots to a playgroup at a Catholic school but i'm okay with it.

chambray shirt: Old Navy
leggings: Aritzia
boots: Verona (last season)
bracelet: Pandora
bag: Aldo

got my hair did

It has been MONTHS since I had a haircut. With the chaos my life has been since October I never had time for an appointment. Luckily my husband had kindly taken to shaving the back/underneath of my head every 2 weeks during that time. So here's how my attempt at a sort of mohawk started.
I found this photo in a mag 5 mins before my last appointment (I just checked Flickr - it was mid July)

He offered to do a varation on the cut above and I got this:

I started growing it out because I realized I really wanted it just like in the photo. So this is a photo in November.

I had grown the sides and the back long for the style in the photo, which I showed my stylist this afternoon before he started cutting. I mentioned at least twice that I wanted the back left long like a tail. Turns out he thought I had shaved the back part too high up so he pretty much cut all the "tail" part off and told me I need to grow it all out again. I did not kill him since I like to think he knows what he's talking about and it is an improvement to the boring hair in the above photo...but it's still not like the photo, 6 months later. But it will do. (Photos taken right when I got home in the bathroom mirror before it got too dark).

Tomorrow I'll blog what I bought on the walk to my appointment. :)
