I often surf online shops that sell designer duds, and fairly often I am struck with the question "WTF?!?!". I thought I'd occasionally do a post on this subject, and today starts it off. Here are some items that had me asking WTF?!

Marc Jacobs Pleated Cuff Trouser - pleated, cuffed, wide-legged and high-waisted. REALLY?!?!

PS Kaufman Oxford Heel - I get the scuffed/grubby look but why teal? It's so i-just-painted-my-bedroom-teal-while-wearing-these

Karl Blanca PVC-Front Cotton-Poplin Shirt - anything with PVC in the name is just wrong right from the get-go

Burberry Prorsum Raffia-fringed Woven Parka - this one just hurts my eyes. and a raffia fringed hood is an added bonus

3.1 Phillip Lim Wolf Pullover - this is one hell of a man repeller top

my fave fashion blogs part 1

I am sick, the kid is sick. I've spent the day chasing my baby around and wiping snot. I'm still in pj's and I'm sure no one wants to see me in my current state. So in lieu of an outfit post, and since we haven't gotten around to doing a blog roll, here are some of my favorite fashion blogs...

Kendi Everyday. She loves heels, takes great pics, and never seems to wear the same thing twice. I guess that's a huge benefit of owning your own clothing store. I'm jealous.

"Kendi Everyday: Neopolitan"

Miss Melissa. She's Canadian, has an awesome purse collection and makes me wish I had a reason to wear skirts.

Miss Melissa: My Weekend

Moda Mama. Also Canadian and also a mama. Her blog is part fashion, part life. I love her because she wears clothes that are realistic to the lifestyle, and sometimes that means jeans and a sweater.

Moda Mama: Twenty Nine Again

One Hundred Inspirations. Four lovely bloggers get together to recreate celeb styles for less.
Atlantic-Pacific. I'm sure everyone already knows about this lovely blog. Great outfits, and diverse style.
Basically, looks I know I could never pull off.

Atlantic-Pacific: TGIF

Lilly's Style. She is often headless, but always well put together in casual everyday looks.

yet another pair of boots

Guess what I gone and did 2 weeks ago? You may recall this post. Yes, I broke down and bought THE. BOOTS. They are the Melanie, by the always awesome John Fluevog. And OMFG, they are now $219!!!??? (Regular $545, and I paid $275) They are HOT. I freaking love them. Now I just need a life so I can wear them out.

I'm not a belt girl. Before last week, I think I owned 3, all purchased years ago. I've never seen the benefit. My height means that most shirts hang well below the waist of pants, so wearing a belt just makes it seem like my waist is that much thicker since you can't see the darn thing. But i'm slowly converting. My pants all seem to be fitting a little looser (yay!) but I don't want to have to replace them just yet. So I bought me a bunch of belts and hopefully I can get used to wearing them.
Wow, that was quite the explanation on nothing much.

lazy sunday

Another lazy day around here. Just a few errands today then family dinner tonight. I should have opted for stretchy pants as my mom's amazing cooking always results in a large food baby.

Jeans: Gap Real Straight
Sweater: Old Navy
Boots: Verona
Bracelet: Gift from Mexico

I heard about Hopea through one of my favourite Scandi design blogs Kitka (owners of Mjölk). It's an online shop based in Toronto that sells incredible vintage modern Nordic and Canadian jewelry from 1960-75. OMG I love every single piece. They are all just so interesting! One of these days I'm going to break down and buy something...

Robert Larin "Biomorphic" bracelet

Guy Vidal "Biomorphic" bracelet

Kupittaan Kulta "Swirl" ring

G:son Liedholm "Starburst" ring

Guy Vidal "Holly" necklace

Sten & Laine "Orbital" necklace

"Kloss" necklace from Sweden

Kultaseppa Salovaara "Facet" bracelet

Hannu Ikonen "Reindeer Moss" necklace

Pardon the eyes, it was really bright out and I can't find my sunglasses.
It's the weekend and not much is going on around here but family time. We brought my daughter to Kim's house to visit with all the cats (her latest obsession is chasing felines around while yelling "cat"). Then we made a trip to Lowe's and I bought some pegboard and hooks to attempt to make a DIY jewelry rack (I may or may not have saw one in Kim's dressing room!).
I think tonight Chinese takeout is in order. I'm in a comfort food kind of mood. Chopsticks always do the trick.

le chateau - who knew?

FYI: Given the nature of this post you'd think it was written by Jen, ye who shops frugally. Yes, I'd rather be talking about Balenciaga bags...

Several weeks ago I was at Carlingwood Mall - for those of you not familiar with this mall, it is where old people hang out and shop. Old as in walkers/canes etc. Real old. And the mall generally sucks. For some reason, there is a Le Chateau store in this mall. And go figure, when I walked in the store, I was the only customer. I was looking for a black sweater, and didn't find the style I was looking for, but I did come to the conclusion that they do some pretty decent clutches! The first one below was one I spotted, and for some reason did not buy. Perhaps because while clutches are generally a pretty cute style of bag, they are also pretty useless. You have to hold on to it at all times, you can't hook it over the back of your chair, and they often fit nothing but a tube of lipstick and if you're lucky, your iPhone. But I digress. Here are a bunch of clutches I found on their website - at great prices, and some are on sale!

Python Print Flapover Clutch - $59.95

Leather-like Studded Clutch - $49.95

Liquid Metallic Envelope Clutch - $39.95

Satin Metal Trim Clutch - on sale $39.99

Leather-like Tipped Canvas Clutch - $45

Satin & Lace Minaudière - $49.95

Satin Minaudière - $49.95

Satin and Lace Hard Case - $79.95

This outfit was SO comfy...it felt like I was in pj's all day. I hope Gap's colored legging jeans go on sale again soon 'cause i'll be scooping myself up at least one more pair.

BUT these boots are so incredibly annoying. There is no zipper so you have to do up the laces through the  super tight hook things every time. I don't have that kind of patience so i'll be choosing where I wear them a bit more carefully.
